Wedding at Nativity BVM and The Arbory with Lithuanian Traditions
August 17, 2024 | Nativity BVM, Art Institute of Chicago, The Arbory
Indre and Oren’s wedding was full of so many Lithuanian cultural traditions. Their beautiful Church wedding was a blend of a Catholic and Jewish ceremony. Once they left the Church, they went to the Art Institute of Chicago with their whole wedding party. One of the best moments was recreating the scene from “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” in front of the Seurat. It poured down raining while trying to leave the Art Institute but we managed to get back on the bus and headed to take some photos at North Avenue beach. After getting rained on once more, we set off for The Arbory. Indre and Oren incorporated so many Lithuanian traditions into their reception. My favorite was the folk dance that all of their friends participated in that tells the story of the wedding couple getting married. It incorporates the use of sashes creating a celebratory human maypole. I have looked at these photos countless times and am still in awe of how they did this because it’s so cool!
